Job Profile:
To play a vital role in developing high quality seed varieties to meet the needs of indian farmers and agricultural market, this position involves the designing and implementing the breeding programmes, conducting field trials and employing the genetic techniques to enhance the crop yields, disease resistance and climate adaptability and closely collaboration with the agronomy and marketing team to ensure the market demand and and fulfill the company’s goal.
Responsibilities:
- Breeding Program Development: Design and manage breeding programs focused on high-yielding, disease-resistant and climate-resilient varieties. Set objectives and timelines aligned with company goals.
- Research & Genetic Improvement: Conduct research on crop genetics, focusing on yield and resilience. Use modern breeding techniques like cross-breeding and selection to incorporate desirable traits.
- Field Trials & Evaluation: Plan and monitor field trials to assess new varieties across soil and climate conditions. Analyse results to refine breeding strategies.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with agronomy, product development and sales to ensure new varieties meet market demands and provide technical support for product launches.
- Market & Farmer Engagement: Engage with farmers and monitor market trends to keep products competitive. Integrate feedback into breeding programs.
- Regulatory Compliance & Documentation: Ensure regulatory compliance, maintain thorough documentation and oversee new variety registrations.
- Reporting & Communication: Provide reports on breeding progress and trial outcomes to guide product strategy and keep internal teams aligned.
- Data Management & Analysis: Maintain detailed records and leverage data insights to optimise breeding cycles.
- Continuous Learning: Stay updated on plant breeding advancements and apply new knowledge to improve breeding practices.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Master's degree in plant breeding and genetics or related field.
- Proven experience in plant breeding, preferably in vegetable crops or onions.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools.
- Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and reporting.
- Passion for agriculture and commitment to advancing sustainable farming practices.
Salary:
Attractive salary and other benefits offered to the right candidates with a minimum starting salary of ₹18,000 per month.
Facility:
Traveling allowance should be paid separately.
